CWM Tanzania: International Women Day, “Leave no women behind” in Tanzania

Details

This year International Women’s day in Tanzania was celebrated in many parts of the country with different groups, with the theme “leave no women behind”. This was to recognize that women make a significant contribution towards the process of economic transformation and sustainable growth. As the Declaration of the World Movement of Christian Workers (WMCW) with the theme of “Woman: The Announcer Of Dignity and Freedom”. The Women of CWM Tanzania in Dioceses of Mbinga, Songea and Bukoba organized the celebrations with other women in the society.

The celebrations were colorful despite the fact that Women’s Day in this year fall in the Lenten Season therefore we did not see much of the traditional dances and choirs. The Women’s Day in Tanzania is gaining recognition compared to previous days were it was considered as the normal day.

CWM Bukoba

Women of CWM Bukoba participated with other women in the region in the special walks to the stadium. They had motivational tasks from different invited guests and after that they met as movement women. As the movement group, they started by special mass and later had time to reflect on the achievements they have attained as well as challenges facing them from various, projects such as Household Investment Saving Association (HISA) and entrepreneurial activities that generates income to them.

CWM SONGEA

Women’s day was celebrated in the Parishes of Mgazini and Hanga. The celebrations started by Holy mass followed by cleanliness around the church. Later there were moments of presentations mainly on “woman the cause of the family”, “woman and economics” and “woman and health”. These were interesting topics that reflected the contribution of woman as the announcer of dignity life to the family and society in bringing changes and development.

CWM Mbinga

The movement in Mbinga Diocese organized a special event in this day. The group reflected on the achievements that women have attained as well as identified challenges that still impede their potentials. There were various testimonies from members and interested talks from invited guests. Among the talks were about “woman the voice of disabled people in the society”. The session ended by fund raising specifically to support the disabled and the needy people.
